Type of Clamps for Rear Drive Shaft Oil Seal on 4 Tec Motors?
I noticed when i put a normal stainless steel worm drive clamp (that is 1/8" wider than compression clamp Seadoo puts here) that the bearing is slightly tapered and a wider clamp tends to want to push the bearing out of the rubber boot. I purchased a different type of clamp and it is some better. I assume that when I install the drive shaft this won't be too much of an issue??? Are you guys using the standard SS worm drive clamp here or do I need to get a compression clamp???
I only ask because I know the shaft moves in and out of the PTO some. I think I would have to pull the damn engine to replace the damn clamp.

Don't worry, it won't go anywhere.....in fact, it is common for it to fall out when the shaft is pulled. The shaft is stepped and would keep it from coming out when it's all together.

I will tell you this and ask erik about it If you dont want a problem clean the shit out of it (the boot) put right stuff around the outers of bearing and inners of boot and used Otiker clamp expensive but its a end all. If you have to use a worm clamp go and get a very narrow band but I just tell you to buy a otiker and be done.
