    Yamaha suv engine removal problem

    Hi, I am in process of rebuilding my 2000 suv 1200. I am having problem with the 4 bolt that hold the engine. When I try to unscrew it, the rubber mount under the screw is turning with it, so no matter how I turn the bolt cannot be remove....... Help......

    Same thing happened on my 98 XL1200. Buddy of mine had huge pair of slip-joint pliers that he used to hold on to mount while using socket on bolt. Finally broke free. Try some PB Blaster penetrating spray as well.

    I had to do the same thing but I took the engine out with the mounts attached first and then removed them using slip-joint pliers.

    We tried taking motor out with only one stuck mount on but the XL1200 opening wasn't big enough. Maybe SUV opening is bigger.

    You need to be using an air gun, It will usually break it free.

    air guns will not work with rubber mounts they are designed to take vibration. the suv hull opening is huge you can drop a buick motor in that thing if you want too. when i pull motors out of that hull i leave the completely asembled and just take off the hoses and cables. Defiantly take it out with the mount attached and use a big set of adjustable pliers with some wd40 or heat since you need a new mount anyway
