    Aftermarket Bars

I ordered some handlebars and began tearing off the stock bars last night. The hole that is left when you remove the stock handle bar cover is terrible looking. You can see white plastic, the buzzer, and too much bare metal for my taste. Any suggestions on making this look a little better? I have a few ideas but would like to see some pics of what others did to clean this area up when going to aftermarket bars. Thanks.

I ordered the 29" Riva Runabout bars. They are two inches wider than stock. I am thinking I am going to have to do something similar to what is shown in the pic.

    Bars

Find a UMI steering stem to take the place of the stock unit.....it looks sooooo much better with or without aftermarket bars. Buy a Carbon fiber hood for your GP the opening is much smaller around the steering stem. Or you could always take the covers off and paint your steering box to match the rest of your ski. Just a few ideas.

If anyone else is looking for bars I have 1-UMI 29" bars and 1-Riva 29" runabout bars. The UMI's are silver and the Riva's are Black. I'm presently running Pro-taper YZ bends on my son's boat and Fly CR bend Blue anodized aluminum on the C/F boat.

Will a UMI stem bolt on without having to buy the entire $300.00 steering system? I just talked to somebody at Riva and he thought I would have to buy the entire system. Thanks.

    bars

You would have to buy the whole steering system. Sorry I wasn't trying to lead you astray. They do come up for sale on e-bay every now and then. I'll talk to a guy I know, who might want to part out an 800GP with a UMI steering system. I'll let you know what he says.

No problem, I am not in the position to spend that kind of money just to clean the look up, however if the price is right on a used one I will consider it. I think I am going to have an aluminum plate made to cover the hole. It will end up looking good just going to be a pain in the ass.

I have decided I am going to make a round cover from brushed aluminum. I am trying to match the look of my Riva gauge cover that is brushed aluminum.
