Angry All vxr/vxs owners please read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello everyone,

I was out on my VXR today in the inter coastal and as I went through LIGHT chop I got thrown off my ski as the nose went submerged at 70+ MPHS after an R&D intake grate failure. I am very lucky to have walked away with only some minor bruises and some lower back pain. When I bought my R&D intake grate they warned me it will not work with Turbo applications but it would be fine for stage one and I even call R&D where I was told I was safe to 80MPHS. Please guys REMOVE YOUR R&D grates before getting hurt, Julio...

Ya, no kidding Julio . . . I am glad you are ok. I assume that you had virtually no warning that the intake grate was coming apart (so you could slow down before it completely came apart and avoid getting tossed)?

If I had to guess the whole thing took a tenth of a second, I knew then shit I'm bucked and I was in pain and under water... This facking skies are OVERSTUFFING right out of the box, way too much tunnel pressure. I'm planning to install large releave valves and the stupid bounce may even go away, Julio...

Ya, this whole overstuff thing gives me the creeps Julio. And what appeared to be the answer (R&D intake grate) now aparently has some "loose ends" with it (as in coming apart). I just rode my VXS for 300 miles on a four day trip and I do have to say that I am not holding the throttle pegged for any extended time . . . maybe a second or two here and there because of this issue (and I am stock). I hope there is an answer soon. JB

    I'm glad your ok Julio..!!
My R&D grate broke also. 2 foot chop doing about 60+mph...Be careful guys. IMO the ski would not have bucked had the grate not broken. I rode back to launch and the VXS was all over the place with no grate. I must say that the installation was a bit of a force fit because the bolt holes did not line up properly. I also feel that the grate was installed under stress because the bolts did not line up. My second R&D grate is doing fine since I slotted the bolts holes and it was fitted properly.
