What year can I stop worring about powervalves and the need for wave eaters?

We just picked up a 2004 Yamaha XLT 1200. We put wave eaters in our 2000 GP1200R and was wondering if the PV issue was solved by '04?

I swear I searched all over for this info, but came up empty. Thanks!

Your 04 does have power valves and would be a good idea to get the clips. The only thing that changed was the length of the bushing and the retaining screw.

    All XLT's (2001 - 2005) have powervalves.
Starting in 2005, GP1300R does not.
