    98 gsxl

    hey guys i got a 98 gsxl 951 brand new engine and there is no spark on the pto cylinder the mag side fires up and will run the ski on one cyl. im think the ignition coil the plug wire go to ? compression is perfect on both cly the motor is brand new

    Almost sounds like the plug wire got pulled out of the coil. Check the spark plug wire at the coil side and look for rust or black carbon track.

    plug wire is in the coil looks new no corrosion anywhere, funny thing is i put the mag side plug wire the one thats working on the pto cly and still doesnt fire wtf. this thing was screaming before. i put this new engine in the old one lost a big end rod bearing. should i just buy a new coil with wires. ps, ive double checked all connections and grounds also no blown fuses and has a fresh battery

    is the a way to ohm out the coil to see if its bad

    Are you still using the same magnito cup from the old engine?

    yep same cup and flywheel

    Then it should be a bad coil. Every 180' of crank rotation you should get spark at both spark plugs. If you wish to ohm it out follow the repair manual on sea-doo.net.

    so i was wrong about the spark theres no fuel getting to the pto side carb i can put my hand over the carb to create suction and bam it runs long till the fuel that got pumped in burns up. wtf why no vaccum on that carb ? diaphrams looks kinda streched but nothing out of the norm. i need to get this thing going, if i keep my hand semi blocking the carb creating vaccum it will stay running help anyone ? ps the mag side carb is fine and that one is getting fead by the pto side pump correct ?

    Pull carbs and clean every orfice. Clean needle and seat. Do you still have the gray tempo lines? If so follow the DYI fuel cleaning thread.

    nope changed the lines long time ago guess im rebuilding some carbs. i hate that big ass pipe in the way, i just rebuilt them last summer
