Thread: Bailer Tubes

    Bailer Tubes

I have a 2005 GTX Limited and when I return from a ride, there is a fair bit of water that comes out when I remove the plugs. Does this mean there is a problem with the bailer tubes?
    Thanks

Make sure they are tied up as high as you can get them. If not, they will reverse flow and fill the hull... Ask me how I know....

    Welcome to the forum!
If they are working you have a decent leak to still have water in Hull.

+1, They work quickly and pull a decent amount of water out of the hull... I timed it once after pouring 10 gallons into the hull.... I don't remember the exact time but it was quick. They work quite efficiently....They must be tied up high though as it has a siphon action....

you have one of two problems. your carbon seal is wearing inncirrectly or its old. OR you are missing a siphon tube in the rear of the pump. I bet you have one and not the other. Look in the steering nozzle and see if you see two tubes on the top inside of the venturi.

Can you lose a siphon tube?
My 07 RXT had this issue, the dealer replaced the rear plugs and so far so good.

Yes you can. I havent had it happen to me personally but others on here have had this experience. What happens is that the little white plastic tube that is pressed in comes out and basically reverses the bailer tube. it will start to fill the hull with water. for some reason it pumps water a lot faster than the one removing water.

I am having the same problem but with a 98 GSX. I have checked the white tubes in the nozzle and both are there and are clear. The trim was down very low because the motor is not working so I pulled the motor and got it to the neutral position. Both hoses inside are tied to the top with the elbows in place. I can pick the bailer up and water will flow out of it with the engine running. Any Suggestions?
