    Exhaust manifold

Can all exhaust manifolds be drilled and tapped? I don't know what year mine is but I'm wanting to drill and tap it for a egt sensor next to the water fitting.

I drilled my 05 rxp and it worked out fine. Make sure you mark the center and work your way up to the final drill.

They all can be tapped, but I would only recommend tapping the 693 castings as the WJ is different from the earlier 692 castings.... The walls on the WJ of the 693 are thicker and therefore give a wider margin for error although not that much. Also, you only get 1 go at it. They are expensive to replace if you FUBAR it up. I would personally do this.....It looks clean as well...

Jim (speedskixp) does one damn good job and it makes for easier installation and removal of the sensor. If he has time, he usually does it same day and is reasonably priced. Great price as well.. JMO! Good Luck....

so you have the bung in the rear exhaust after the waterbox? is the a/f reading any different before/after the waterbox? i'd think the most accurate reading would be at the exhaust manifold collector...

I'm running a turbo so don't have a j pipe. I've already got a o2 sensor but I'm wanting to hook up a egt sensor. So if I drill the centre of the boss next to the water fitting I should be ok? The hole I'm drilling isn't as big as a o2 sensor it's only a 1/8 npt thread.

If you are thinking of running the adapter for the sensor you might want to run a search. It seems as though many people that have run that setup have had issues and ended up just drilling and tapping the sensor directly into the manifold.

He's not drilling for o2 sensor!

    Damo,
You'll be fine, you only need to drill a 11/32 (8.7mm) hole.
