GP1200 Riva Girdled Head Stud Mod
If anyone is having problems with the studs that came with the Riva Girdled heads breaking, here is an easy solution that I wanted to share. The studs that come with the Riva heads are small and tend to break (at least for me) and they do not trully sandwich the cylinder between the head and the cases (to prevent cracking cylinder). They are two piece, one part bolts the cylinder down to the cases and then the stud helps hold the cylinder down (along with the other cylinder bolts).
My solution was to just buy a girdle stud kit from ADA Racing, drill out the girdle stud holes in the Riva top plate, and install. Now the cylinder is actually sandwiched between the head and cylinder and the studs are way bigger and stronger.
Hope this helps if you are having problems with the Riva studs, or can't find any to replace your broken ones.
