Anybody use SBT for their cranks in their yamahas? Don't they do Yamaha's rebuilt cranks?

Poor quality Bearings are used on the 66V SBT cranks.
Stay with OEM or a rebuilt from a quality Manufacturer such as RIVA, Crankworks or RAD.

Wasn't SBT bragging about bieng the OEM warranty supplier for Yami engines? I'm not joking.

Yeah they do the warranty cranks for yamaha. Only problem is that if you throw a rod through your cases, they only cover the crank as long as its within its one year warranty.

Isn't that the same or more than anyone else though?

boy u boyz are like a bunch of old grumpy men sometimes....
the newer (last 2 years or so) SBT cranks use jap bearings. the previous ones used a non-jap bearing that caused many failures in the past. sbt realised the problem and made a change.
i have a sbt crank in my xlt for the past 1.5 years. that boat has 150psi, advent cdi, and premix with sbt pistons and cylinders. the sbt cylinders need to be cleaned up from the poor sleeve alignment. when i ride the xlt,,,,the throttle gets clamped for 90% of the time.
one of my buddies has a sbt crank in his xlt. last fall he had a cylinder let go (ring land failure). while he had it down i asked him to pull the crank to make sure everything looked ok. One of the bearings was bad. I believe the bearing had failed due to debris from the piston failure getting washed thru the bottom end. SBT warrantied the crank...NO QUESTIONS ASKED...we reinstalled it and it is running fine. He rides hard.
would i use a SBT crank in a 1400 or 1500cc motor. absolutley not. it would be a yamaha factory crank sent to crankworks for T & W...for no other reason then, i want a brand new crank to start with. all sbt cranks are re-man's.
would i use a SBT crank in a stock 1200 or 1300 yes. would i use a SBT crank in a stage 2, yes. As states above, I do. for the money and the warranty, i dont think they can be beat.
if the sbt cranks are such "crap"....why wouldnt yamaha give a fault free warranty on their cranks for one year? you can go buy a brand new yami crank and it can fail in a few hours....and the yami dealer will "MORE THEN LIKELY" tell you to go scratch if you go back for with a claim. i had a yami crank fail in a few hours in my raider...riva told me, "a new crank is $XXX"...so it was baisicly , "GO SCRATCH".
when i got my xlt together i specifically went out and beat the $hit out of it to try for a failure....why not it was warrantied. to date, it has liked the abuse!
