Octane Boost on RXP - Do I need to?
I just finished a multi-year build on a 04 RXP. In my haste to give it a test run, I used standard octane fuel (about 10 gallons). I can add another 5 gallons of premium on top of the standard fuel, but should I add an octane booster for the first 10 gallons?

no, don't use octane booster. they're a waste of money and don't do anything. Just top it off with premium like you said, watch for the knock sensor code. Or just take it easy for awhile until you've ran most of the 87 out of it then fill her with 91 or whatever you got.

well, if you're really worried, just siphon the 87 out. easy peasy.

stock ski you are ok 6 psi of boost..eh.not enough boost.to worry about especially since you should be riding easy breaking in a new engine..throwing some octain booster ..or topping off w race fuel wont hurt you but not doing it wont cause issues IMO ..
big chargers 15 17 psi yes then you would need to worry and bring the octain up.

Breon, correct me if im wrong. but dont those cheap "octane boosters" you can get and the local gas station do nothing? I mean obviously race gas is different but im talking about the stuff that comes in little plastic bottles? BTW anyone ever tried AV gas in their high boost ski ??

They do work... to a point. The best one I ever seen is the Lucas Octane boost. It rasies the octane level by only 3 octane. The trick is they label them in points, but you have to remember that 10 points = 1 octane
