Oil line setup from Oil Tank

I replaced my oil line filter and it has 1/4" fittings on both ends as opposed to the one I took off which seemed to be 1/4" and 1/2". I ran a small piece of 1/4" line from the filter to a brass barb connected to a 1/2" barb and then ran the thicker line back to the oil tank. Any problems with this setup? Just want to make sure I'm not restricting oil flow.

I guess I'm not understanding why you have that set up?

Is the oil tank fitting a 3/8"?

And isn't the oil pump inlet fitting also 3/8"?

No, they are definitely different. Not sure of the exact sizing but the oil tank fitting is larger and the old oil filter was the same larger size at the tank end.
