Found an extra part in my engine

So I have had my engine apart twice, 1st time was to change a toothless clutch and the next a broken timing chain. The pan and stator housing were cleaned each time.

Last week my FZR stoped charging, stator voltage was below spec so I pulled apart my stator housing. To my surprise I found a (Valve) collet wedged between the stator & magneto flywheel shorting it out and reducing voltage.

So I was like, WTF???, how could a collet eject from the head and make it down to the stator on a perfectly running engine? So I pulled the cam and was amazed to find all 32 collets correctly in place.

I have never bought and extra collet or had one lying around my shop. No one other than myself has touched this engine, inside and out.

The only explanation is that this collet was dropped in the engine on some off-beat-friday in japan. WTF??? 84 hours later it magically apears????

I though only sea doo had these issues??

I guess your motor was built on a Friday, the worker dropped an extra piece in the motor and said "the hell with this, it's happy hour" and didn't bother digging it out.

I've had parts dropped in the hull that will wedge themselves up against something and not come out for 10s of hours.

Freaky, one in a million chance of that happening the way it did. What thickness is the shim? I'm in need of one. JK

I found tools in my ski and extra bolts from SD. I thought they were the dealers from setup but they were not theirs. That is all that I have found. Just minor things. I still have the really nice socket box end wrenches that were wedged in between the tank and rubber mat underneath it. Lucky I guess....
