Got something in the gas tank

The other day I was adding Startron fuel treatment to my SHO.I took the fuel cap off to add the Startron and as I opened up the fuel treatment the little plastic/foam peice that seals the cap on the Starton fell in to my gas tank. I tried everything under the sun today to get it out with no luck. Any tips on how to get it out, do you think it will cause any damage? I'm just worried that it will get caught in the fuel pump or lines and or jam up the fuel level float..

    Thanks in advance guys!

Wow that stinks. Believe it or not, the EXACT same thing happened to another forum member about a year back. I can't seem to find the thread, but I think the solution was draining the tank and getting the little piece out. Maybe someone else can find the thread.

empty the tank. or run it out of gas, and go thru the top of the tank where the sending unit is, there are screws there with a vac. if that does not work u will have to take the tank out.

Thanks Guys! I tried filling it up to float it up with no luck. I also tried accessing the filler neck,I couldn't get the hose off of the tank, I tried the little black cap w/ the hose clamp and no go, I even tired to blow it around with compressed air and couldn't get it. I'm going riding today and I'm hoping I don't have any issues.Maybe someone can come up with an idea,or I will have my buddy a Yamaha try to get it over the winter. If you think of any ideas let me know.... Thanks guys!

General consensus was to get the foreign object out of the tank.

Here's the link to the other thread started: http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...&highlight=gas
