vx110 driveshaft and bearing holder for conversion

anyone look at the vx110 driveshaft setup for conversions? seems like it would be simple and less parts than using the yamaha midshaft, driveshaft, and conversion shaft.

could just use the vx110 driveshaft which has threads on it like the midshaft. its all one piece. and the prop has splines in it like a doo pump. and the pump is set up like like a doo also with the pump shaft threading into the prop.

seems the mid bearing would be easier as its already like the seadoo style.
just a thought, noticed it yesterday while working on a vx110 at the shop.

have you ever heard of the vx,s leaking water from the drive shaft plate [ joint pipe ] ?
that's why i don't like that set up.

all the ones we have had leak are because the aluminum plate leaks joined to the hull. we rip it out, rouchen both surfaces and methacralayd it back down held down by the bolts. never had a problem with the coupler bearing.

don't get me wrong its nothing wrong with the bearing, its the plate the ones it leaks.all the vibration from the engine stops on that plate. that's what i don't like.it will leak again ,again and again.its just a bad set up.

Yeah, cuz those hundreds of conversions must be sooooo complicated to get it to work... there are already a minimum of two working systems, and both function with tons and tons of pump options. The sho-gpr is showing promise with the sho-shaft and sho systems as well.

No offense, but there are tons of things that really could use some some further engineering work, such as understanding and upgrading the transom plate limits, maybe some fresh insights into these crappy clutch systems on both sho-gpr and gprxp platforms, maybe some type of rear air intake system that isn't piece meal parted together...

Fresh ideas such as yours could be helpful in moving this platform forward... but not if we want to go backwards every couple of years.

good post. completely understandable. was one of those wonder if this would work while i was working on one at work.
as for the clutch issues yes there are ways to get around it. some of which haven't been tried. things like one way bearings would possibly work or just not using a hard cut rev limiter. that and using a real blow off valve for a supercharger and not one meant for a turbo. a supercharger blow off valve should be open and leak at idle. then leak as the engine revs up and then boost from the intake manifold pressure will pressurize the valve and then close it. the hks valve is meant for a turbo. they even suck on turbo cars.

as for transom plates whats the problem with them . haven't read or heard on them. only the transom on the hull cracking and pump tunnel issues. if there is a problem in the pump area then a simple billet bracket that bolts to the pump and then bolts to the top of the pump tunnel to provide extra support could be made. I have Autocad, access to a machine shop to machine parts, and I have plenty of yamaha ski's at the shop to figure it out on. could also serve as a mounting spot for the pressure relief valves whle bracing the pump.
