    Deck swap question

Mulling over my options here. I have a 2002 GP1200R with a good lower hull and some damage to the top deck. I aslo have a 2001 GP1200R with a good top deck and a bad bottom. How difficult is it to seperate the decks - especially if I sacrifice (as in cut the crap out of) the part I don't need?

its doable. you will be fighting the bonding adhesive around the rub rail. but shouldn't be a problem if your cutting up 2 and sacrificing the damaged parts on each ski. going to be a lot of grinding. smc itches just like fiberglass. wear a respirator too.
just gotta figure if its worth your time and labor to make one ski out of 2.

depending on damage you can repair either one. everclear or evercoat has a smc compatible resin.

Thanks, the more I think about it, the less inclined I am to split them. I'm going to cut the tunnel section out of one of them to make a mold, so maybe I'll play around then to see how tough the bond line glue is. It seems to give way fairly well when heated.

hey Zig!, post some pics... I agree , all depends on the amount of time your willing to invest into this one. But no doubt you`d know what you have when your done!

I'm in Canfield (Younstown area). Not a GPR rider yet. Putting an RXPX drivetrain in this ski. Can't seem to find a really good hull in the area. Bought one out of Pittsburgh, but the upper deck needs work, and the liner is cut up, too. I guess It's not too bad, but I always like to start from scratch, not from someone else's work. Don't happen to know anyone with a blown 2000-2002 GPR for sale do you?

don't know of any at the moment but will keep you in mind if we come across one. we buy them not running just to part them. and isn't every gpr blown up at least some time in its life.
