Wreckingball's GPR Riva & R&D Ride Plate Mod

So, I've yet to test the results of this new mod to my plate, but it seems like a good idea. After looking at the Spitfires R&D ride plate (InsaneDiego Joe), Joe pointed out a few areas that the plate has been modified. Obviously the R&D and the Riva plates are very different, but the concept remains the same. Smoother is better! Joe made a few recommendations that I didn't take, like filling in the speedwheel opening. I still have a wife who prefers the GPR to the GTX (I married a speed freek), and will complain if the gauge reads zero... Anyways... While I was filling, I decided to weld on a small fin for stability. This may negate some of my efforts to make things smoother, but since I ride mostly in a Bay and Ocean, I don't want the rear scooting out on me! If I don't like it, I can grind it off later.

The plate has already been cut for a better ride angle before my new mods, so I'll have a base reference to distinguish the difference when I ride on the plate next.

    Here's a few photos:

I may sand it down again and do another skim coat later to get rid of some of the waviness in the epoxy. But I was using a 2" air grinder, and should have finished it by hand.

Edit: I just got a R&D plate and I'm going to do the same mod as I did on the Riva. R&D plate mod starts on page 4

should be interesting, fill that speedo area and get a sticker that says 100 mph and stick it to the display.

    joe,

with the angle of that plate you may be getting into overstuffing your pumpville. what intake grate are you using? Might consider adding pump pressure relief before you go swimming at high speed.

Waters not that cold yet! lol. I've got the same R&D grate as you have on the Spitfire. I won't be able to test this weekend because my mom is in from out of town for my daughters baptism on Sunday. I'd like to make a family day of it at the beach, but my wife and sister aready arranged a fam BBQ at my sisters in Vista.

Maybe on the 22nd? The 21st is my 5 yr wedding anniversary, so I'll have to see what the weekend looks like. Priorities and life keep getting in my way... And I have a couple pontential buyers for both skis, so I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Here's a picture of the new Solas Concord 14/20 prop that was repitched to a 14/21 by Impros.
