    1300R Crankcase Damage-Is this ok?

    Hi,
stripping my gpr due to a rear cyl meltdown, and have noticed a small bit of damage to the crankcase. Is this small section important and can it be smoothed with a file, or do I need to fill/weld?Click image for larger version.

Hey Simon. Can`t really see detail from the pic, any hairline cracks? I would think if you just smoothed it out a touch, you should be fine since it is in line with the con rod anyways... I`m not sure if that would affect pulse or flow...

what the hell happened there Simon! Looks like a blow torch got it... wow... did ya loose a ring pin?

No cracks-it looks worse than it is-the bit im concerned about is the small section knocked off in line with the conrod just in front of where the reed cage sits(pulse is exactly my concern), the rest is just dome superficial damage from the conrod dragging the piston parts down. Im guessing a spun ring-everything else seems tocheck out fine.
Bought the ski like this with a seized engine-I would NEVER let my engine bay go to look like that!

you have it torn down allready....you will feel better if you go ahead and weld it and fix it correctly......thats what I would do. It probably wont hurt a thing until the next seizure. Then who knows !

Im guessing it hit the power valve? Im with txgp if your going to fix it nows the time. How deep is it? Looks pretty shallow from the pic, cant imagine it would make that much of a difference. But then again im just a shade tree.
