Question BoatLife Release Sealant Adhesive Remover 16 oz. or Debond Polyurethane Adhesive

I should be receiving my Jim's ride plate this week and have to remove my oem plate that i sealed with polyurethane.
Does anyone know which one works better to remove polyurethane and silicone; the boatlife or Debond brand.

I'm not familiar with the boatlife brand, but I've used Debond to remove 5200 with pretty good results. It still requires some elbow grease but defiately makes the job easier. I used it with a die grinder & scotch-brite pad the last time I swapped transom plates on my SHO...just required a light touch to get off the 5200 without cutting into the hull. It still took several applications & soaks to finish the job, but it went a lot faster than the previous time I did it without the Debond. BTW, when you reinsall the new plate, there's really no benefit in sealing it.

Intake grate, yes...ride plate, no. If you want to go an extra step to gain a little speed & don't swap plates often, fill the bolt holes in the grate & ride plate. I cover the bolt with a piece of tape & use the epoxy sticks that you mix with your fingers.

This is what I used from WM. Most marine stores will have something similar.

I used underwater epoxy I picked up at Lowes. It says its made for aluminum. Make sure to get quick cure!! other wise the epoxy will run out of the rideplate holes.
