Decisions, Decisions...Reflash the ECU or pitch and go...

So I have ridden my new 2011 RXT X 260 all summer and added the mods in my signature. I found out late in the summer that the 2011's have a different nozzle and my prop was pitched according to the 2010 specs. So now winter is here and the ski has been put away and I have the prop off to send back to Erik. Here is where I am trying to figure out what to do.

    A) Send the prop and have him re pitch to the 2011 specs (with my mods)?
    2) Send the ECU for the reflash (to stage one specs) and then send prop?

In the end, I am trying to get to 75 plus consistently (legit gps) and all I could get this summer was 73 at 7780 rpm. Tried the weather, water conditions, different fuel levels, even what I had for breakfast and never could get past 73 at the 7780.
What should I expect after the prop is re pitched to 2011 specs with my mods vs the reflash and the re pitch? or should I just go on a diet and shed a few pounds? lol

    Cheers Fella's

Your Riva SCOM takes care of the GPS speed limit but does NOT take care of 8040 rpm issue or boost limit! You should have seen over 8040 rpm, the rpm drops to 7780-7980 then creeps back up slowly every time, right? You will always have that problem until you re-flash the stock ecu.

The specs you refer to are simply a 83mm venturi for 2011 vice the 87mm venturi that 2010 came with. You will gain a little speed with re-pitch and 83mm venturi, but will not get the 75mph goal consistently.

My advice: Re-flash ecu to stage 1 or 2 as desired, then re-pitch. Keep this in mind:
<8300 rpm - stock valve train and fuel ok (74-77 mph)
8300-8500 rpm - retainers and rrfpr required (75-78 mph)
8500-8800 rpm - full valve train upgrade, rrfpr, walbro, etc, etc. (81-83mph)

    Good Luck

I have never seen anything close to even the 7980! What happens with factory warranty when I reflash the ECU to stage 1? Have you heard any problems with doing the stage 1 reflash and leaving stock valve train, and what should my pitch be with that mod? I could wait and send the prop to Erik after the ECU is done.

Your rpms were low, i bet you'd be knockin on 75's door consistantly if rpms were in 8100 range.. With the reflash You'd need upgraded valve train no doubt. Bud's can't see reflash with higher limiter.............buy a newer nozzle.. instead of him repitching it.!

Looks like the stage 1 flash is ok to run stock valvetrain with no risks. What nozzle would I look at??

Stock 83 nozzle. Pitch to gain your speed and rpms.

I think I will send for the reflash, and then send the prop to Erik to do his thing. The ECU flash is only 780 bucks and I don't have to change the charger or injectors. HOPEFULLY I can get the 74-77 that is suggested. This thing should sure whine when it hits the 8350 !! If it runs the 73 at 7780 wonder what happens when I add another 570 RPM's! We need some more RXT X 260 riders up here.....and where are the Kawi 300's hiding....????

The dealer will have no idea the ECU has been programmed.

Another benefit of the reflash is sport mode can be selected before starting the ski

I would wait and send the prop to Erik after the reflash has been done.

Stock valve train is perfectly fine for the stage 1 reflash.
