Thumbs up New Member: 2011 Yamaha FZR - Need Feedback on Mods!

I recently bought a 2011 FZR and was looking into adding some mods. The ski has 26 hours and I'm already itching for an HKS BOV and Riva Exhaust.

Before you even ride the ski get either the R&D intake grate or a Riva stainless stell intake grate (do not get the Riva aluminum grate)

Your ski is dangerous to ride with the stock grate.

Next I would start with removing the foam pieces from under the cowlings.

Then I would get more water to the intercooler by running a dedicated water line to the IC from the pump.

Get a Yamaha OEM VX110 rideplate

I wouldn't do the riva exhaust it is annoying loud

Thanks for all the great input! I'll definitely look into the R&D intake grate.
Any suggestions as far as exhaust?

    Anyone running the HKS BOV?

    Thanks..

The Riva FF exhaust is nice. Some people get annoyed by the "drone" but you will not hear the drone above 5k, or when you are riding offshore. In fact, after a few hours of riding, you won't even notice it.

I run the riva HKS BOV kit. Very nice piece. You can drill and tap the manifold as per their instructions, or T the MAP Vac line with a cheep T or with the R&D multi-pressure port adapter. Personally, I run the R&D piece.

R&D grate is a must, you'll gain a ton of hookup. You could go with a VX plate, but its mainly for top speed and not for hookup.

Take a look at my build thread, I have all the typical stage 1 mods (stock ECU, stock SC)

Mike thanks for the input. I'm going to check-out your build thread.
What do you think of this R&D Surge Protector Kit?

Is it a better option on the long run?

    Thanks!

The Tial is regarded as 'better' than the HKS. But here's my opinion on it.... if you are running stock-low boost (12lbs or less) I think the HKS does a fine job... But, if you run mid-high boost (12+) then I would go with the Tial. I believe the Tial is adjustable and can let out more air than the HKS, but on low boost, it's a bit of overkill.
