Yep no joke. Lake Anderson in Morgan Hill, Ca is the same. 35 mph no budget but they get a big block river runner jet boat. 3 boats for a lake only 7 miles long what a joke.

The smart ass in me says to ignore it. It's certainly not a speed limit or it would say so. It simply says "35 MPH On Water". Do this, make your own sign that says something like "82 MPH on Water". Take your new "82" sign and place it next to the "35" sign and tell the cop you just set the new lake record...

On the technical stand point, I wonder if the sign can actually mean anything if it doesn't include the words "Speed Limit" and there is no such language written into the municipality code/ordinance...?

Ignorance is no defense...but common sense can be held against you.

And Billy's right...Just because it isn't written on the sign doesn't mean there isn't a law. There is no "Do not murder" sign (although it was chisled onto one of two stones/tablets), but it is a written law.

I totally agree w/you J. But I don't think that signage applies w/o an such an ordinance being written into the local code. If anything, it may only be a "suggested" speed... All the same, people like us - SeaDoo owners - should def. be careful: We'd be putting up new "record" signs all over that lake...
