    Compression question

I was wondering what compression tool that is used as I had bought one and it didn't fit in the spark plug hole, so was wondering if there was a certain brand that people use. Also was wondering what is the correct PSI is suppose to be when doing a compression test on a 2004 GTX supercharged 185HP. Thanks for anyones help.

Around 140 is a good starting point. You have to have the small adapter for our ski's. I bought the kit from Harbor Freight and it came with 4 sizes.

This is the one I bought. It was $22.00......
Also, this was my compression numbers. It is normal for #3 to be low when the engine is cold.

Interesting..... I used the high dollar gauge and the results were the same. I am happy with it.

I bought my guage from Autozone just for the adapter...had it professionaly checked against my Snap on and the cheap one was dead balls on while my snap on was off anywhere from 10 to 15 psi

My craftsman vs snap on are 5psi-7psi from each other, craftsman reading higher.

It's not about how much you spend IMO! I hooked mine up to the compressor with 100psi of air per the compressor and measured with a digital pressure gauge then hooked the cheapo one from Harbor Freight and it read 99 psi. I figured it was close enough.

I was seeing like 7-9 lbs less only on my middle cylinder around 145 on all on a hot ass engine after riding...
I'm also using the harbor freight special, only thing to keep in mind is if you drop it throw it away.

I was just checking mine the other day. So, according to "the book", what's the PSI supposed to be on a 06 RXP? I dont see it listed anywhere in my manual. Thanks
