A buddy had a similar weird issue like yours. Too much oil in the cases. When he ran his ski it progressively lost speed / rpms. Basically the oil was making the air filter soaked and not allowing the proper amount of air / fuel ratio. Hope it helps, if not wish you the best.

I hear they have a "limp" mode that batch fires the injectors if they lose cam sensor signal or some input device.

I know you are going to laugh. I have a FX140 I am fixing right now. The customer back in july brought it to me and said the motor is little sluggish, and sounds like it misses. So I rode it and noticed a very slight vibration as well during acceleration. So I went back to the shop and pulled the pump and the bearings were on the way out. So I gave the customer the news and he got mad, and said I don't know any thing about jetskis. So he took it to a dealer (in San antonio I think). They kept it from july until yesterday. charged 400.00 ck out fees and said needs a motor. He came back to me today, The pump is wasted now. And the motor has a hard time starting. I pulled the pump and it starts fine. it is a 04 I think, So I am waiting for the pump parts. The pump dragging on the engine was frieking it out. I will try to remeber to post next week after water testing. To see if the so called motor miss is gone as well. I,m sure it will!

    thanks.

i'll give both those guys a call to see what they think. thanks for all the advice. anyone who rides in the houston area ought to check out bastrop bayou to ride. there are 4-5 boat ramps, water is always smooth, and usually quite a few skis in the water. looks alot like mudbug riding area, including the gators in the summer. thanks graham
