2006 RXP J Pipe tail cut mod
I have been looking thru some old post and I see several places where to cut the tail end of the J pipe were it goes into the water box.
Any suggestions on how much to cut off,
Does it really help any?
I am taking out the resonator and I have to use the stock exhaust exit locaton, I am trying to get every bit of MPH,

Not sure for everyone, But we cut mine down 2.5 inches gutted box and made it rear exit thru haul.
It was just behind the ic resonator removed before.
And i gained no rpms.
I however did gain almost 80rpms from straight pipe!

If you Plan on running any type of modded, gutted or aftermarket waterbox then you'll want to cut the J-pipe 1 3/4 inches up from the bottom...Now if your leaving the waterbox stock then I would leave the J-pipe alone...With a stock box there are baffles in the bottom and you'll want the longer pipe in there to push the water out, were as a gutted or nodded box there are no baffles so you need to cut the pipe to keep from "hot spotting"the bottom of the box seeing the exhaust pressure will blow the water out quickly...

Great explanation Sno, I have seen bits and pieces on the J pipe being cut, but they never explained how or why,
