    1100 Stx di engine

    Are all years of the 1100 STX Di engine parts interchagable? I.E cylinders and cylinder heads

    I am pretty sure the ZXI cylinders interchange with the DI. I just rebuilt a 2000 1100 DI engine and used a set of ZXI cylinders as a replacement. Before I got it fired up I was told the port timing was different and the engine would have no compression. I have since gotten it running, has plenty of power and compression is 145-150 on all 3 cylinders.

    Wow, that's really high for the triple, almost like 2 bangers. I have 2 DI skis and both read only about 120 psi and they run good as new.

    Below is a photo of my cylinder head and cylinder. If you look at where the head meets the cylinder you can see a portion of the cylinders. I match the head gasket to the cylinder and the head and every thing lines up. except on the cylinder as you see below. I'm getting 150 psi on all the cylinsers as well. is this normal?

    Service manual calls for a service range of 109-156 PSI. I wouldnt worry about 150, just means everything sealed up real good. Mine runs just fine and havent had any trouble with it. Just finished breaking it in the last time it was out and have been happy with the way it runs.

    Compression gauge may need to be checked/recalibrated.
    As long as ski runs good, all fine.
