fzr handle bar padding remove or not to remove

Has anyone removed the plastic handlebar assembly on the 2011 fzr?

I have when I was doing some maintence. If you're asking whether or not you can remove it for the look, then yes you can. But I absolutely do not recommend doing so. There is no padding left with the bar padding taken off, so if you hit the bars-- you're in for trouble.

In addition to having no padding, the stock bars are ugly. Aftermarket bars will look much better & will give you many options for width, height & pullback. Only problem is you'll also need an am steering stem to use them on an FZ because of the way the clamps sit for the funny shaped stock bars.

mark is right, the stock assembly is just plain ugly !!!!!!!! plus the pad adds some protection in the event you do hit the bars...

i got a friend that modded his stock bar and added renthal PAD, i am going to try to get a picture for you guys,

He bended the stock bar and welded a single tube from one side to the other then put the pad on, it looks just like an aftermarket bar.
