Need winch advice
Hey guys. I've got the bow stop as close as I can to being in the right spot. But as you can see the angle of winch strap is way off.
If it could come from underneath the angle would be a lot closer, but to do that the winch would have to be turned around, which puts the handle on the wrong side. Or am I missing something?
I need the replace this winch anyway cause...well it's fugly. But I also need one with a soft strap/hook.
Is a 600 # capacity enough since it's not actually pulling that much weight (being in the water)?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Go the the Shelby winch web site and get a 1400lb capacity winch. It will make your life extremely easy and buy a 15 foot strap for it. Is that a Triton trailer? If so....when you are winching the ski onto the trailer, run the strap straight to the ski over the top of the roller.....when you get it close to the roller, unhook the winch and run it under the bolt thats about a couple of inches below the roller and hook onto the ski. The idea is that running the strap under that bolt keeps a downward pull on the ski keeping it very secure on the trailer.

Your strap is fine. The pulley is in the prefect spot. The whole idea is that you don't want the ski to go up-and-over if you have to stop short. Since you have the strap/hook attached below the bow stop roller, you're good to go.

I thought you wanted the strap to go from the winch to the bow hook in a straight line, but I understand the idea of wanting downward force on it.
