    2012 FX SHO vs FZR

    Anybody ride these two skis back to back. Thinking about a new ski for next year and was wondering if the FX SHO will be the one. I like the looks of the new FX SHO hull, but its a little bigger and heavier than a FZR. I think it will out handle a FZR and maybe turn out to be a faster hull, too.

    Not sure it it would out handle the FZ hull, but I can attest that a larger hull is better for offshore riding.

    Better as in it will plow right through small chop and will stay hooked up. FXSHO is not a "flickable" as an FZR. All depends on the type of riding you do and what you like. You can ride on an FXSHO all day in small chop and your legs will not fatigue nearly as much as if you did it on an FZR...

    Just noticed you are talking about the new FXSHO. Disregard this post.

    Not sure if they are at dealerships, yet. The 2012 FX SHO hull is way different than the old one and its nothing like the FZR hull, either.

    I wouldn't say the new FX hull is nothing like the FZ hull. They both are a deep V style hull with angles chines. And I think it is reasonable to assume the new FX hull has full lifting strakes like the FZ does.

    You are absolutely right, there are major differences. But, notice-- deep V hull on both hulls, angled chines on both hulls, and lifting strakes on both hulls. The lifting strakes on the FZ are full length but the FX hull arn't full length

    JP, you might want to PM Jerry on this;
    I'm thinking he must have test ridden the new one already;
    here is his review and comments on the hull:

    FZ has the fat pump tunnel too. Keep that in mind.

    it looks like the new SHO has the same rideplate as the 06 fx ho, IF it is then its safe to say that the new 2012 SHO hull is 3mph slower than the 08-11 hull.
