EMM water inlets : How to replace/fix

    Hi all,

I have have taken out my EMM from a MSX140 and noticed somehow there is corrosion on the plastic inlet pieces. I have attached 2 pictures below.

Has anyone replaced these before and do you know how? If I can't do this myself, do you know of anywhere that can do this for me? I am in Perth Australia so may have to send if somewhere.

Does it appear to have a hex on it. In other words,is it a threaded in fitting? If so I would attempt to cut it off even with the hex, then get a easyout for that size pipe fitting and go that way. If that doesn't work, you would maybe able to find a left handed drill that is the Root size of the thread and Carefully drill it out. When drilling with a left handed drill, they will normally back the threads out while cutting.

Also apply some Muric Acid around the threads may disolve some of the corosion on the fitting.

I just did this last week. The fitting is pressed in aluminum. You have to put a slit down it with a dremmel to get it out. The hole is 7/16 which is the right size hole to start a 1/4 npt pipe thread tap but you'll have to drill it a little deeper. Then you can get a 5/16 hose barb to 1/4 npt fitting and screw it in. just make sure you seal the threads
