There is no reason not to esspecially taht you at hight.

You wont be able to run big boost, Det is more of an issue with the higher comp esspecially if you cannot adjust your mapping.

Bare in mind that a correctly sized turbo will be at full boost by the time you hit 6500rpm so with the extra comp and the fact the riva ecu is mapped for a scer the timing might be a little aggressive in the mid range.

But there are alot of guys here now running big boost on the Riva so you could just run a lower boost fast spool setup that will rip your arms off.

IMO no, the rev limiter is your biggest enemy, it changes timing and fueling and that makes it difficult to tune.

A phone call to Les might see you on the road to a custom re-map to suit.

It would be impossible to say, "this much boost on this much compression is safe" as there are soo many factors involved. Ignition timing is a big factor, then AF ratio, then smaller details such as AIT, coolent and oil temps.

I know of people running 2 rudes on the 9.5s with re-maps so that is a level thats has been tryed but you have the whole SC vs Turbo equation to consider.

You have been trying the 3rude with success as far as the motor is concerned, but to my knowledge the riva ECU still runs the Knock sensor which could be whats making things stay on the safe side...

    Lots to consider.

If you run the Turbo at 18lb boost with the 9.5 pistons at 4000 feet it would have the same effective compression ratio as a motor with 20lb boost at sea level with 8.5pistons.
The 9.5 pistons are only 8.7 at 4000ft.

No wonder we loose so much power at elevation. Lol

This is what we have been thinking and knowing all along.
You will be good till you go to see level.

I am at 4330ft altitude and running Borg Warner and 9.5:1 pistons, it has more bottom end hit at 25psi boost peak .. In havasu this same set up is much more violent on 112 octane at all times of course. RT

you can run the 9.5s at that elevation it all depends on the type of fuel you are using, boost level, and air temps. Another way of putting it is you must tune your engine and always check your numbers but yes it can be done if that is what you want to know.
