    Stock knock detection

I recently read in another thread that the SHO motor comes equipped with a knock detection device that the stock and reflashed ECU's use to detect pinging. First of all is this true and if so does MoTeC use the same stock device ?

NO Knock sensor on the SHO
There are a number of other methods of detecting knock that OEMs can use, none of which I can see any evidence of on the SHO

In reality, why would they need to any way
The ign map on the stock ECU is very conservative, a long way from knock even on the worst of fuel

    Cheers

Pete I heard from one of your MoTeC Dealer's that you's where bringing out a Knock sensor for the MoTeC rather than the Knock Box, This was about 3 month's ago and he said it would be available in 2 month's he even gave me a estimated Price, Any updates

    cheers

Does/can MoTeC make use of this knock sensor ? I looked at the pinouts from the Yammy harness and to the MoTec ecu and they seem to line up (pin number P1).

What does this sensor do or not do that the MoTeC knock box does ?

The motec knock box measures and tunes for the most accurate measurement of "KNOCK".
Pete will explain but the oem knock measure is like a VW Beetle (does the job and has so for years). The Motec takes it too a "NASA Space craft level (it can do a lot more).

For example it can measure which cylinder of the four are knocking. Usually #1.

You can tune the hell out the timing retard cct to run ultra safe or hanging on the edge, and anywhere in between.

These are but 2 of the many things it can do. It's easier to list what it doesn't do. See below:

Warning: If you really want one, get it tuned by the likes of Pete or Gary. It'll be worth it!!!.

petes currently all over mine since lambda are a real pita on the 300, most of the tuning has been done using the knock sensor, spun me out looking at the data it produces, as you say for each cylinder.
