Type of grease behind pump cone?

Hey is there any special grease that's REQUIRED behind the pump cone, or can I just use my Maxima marine grade grease... I also have some basic wheel bearing grease. It just seems that the stuff that's in there now is much more viscous.

    Thanks

The "required" is SeaDoo's own of course. Yours will work.
I run a synthetic 75w-90 diff. fluid and have had zero problems.

Bro go with the oil, when my bearings went out I looked at the nose cone and still had the swirls of grease from factory, the grease on the cone never made contact with the bearings.
You dont have to clean the crap out of it, just get most of it out, add oil and ride.

Yea I should really get off my ass and do that conversion. I totally agree....the OEM set-up with the grease is pretty lame, since 75% of the grease in there doesnt even touch the bearing!! Totally fuckn lame!

Hey, so my memory is fading....how do you get the oil in the cone during assembly, i mean without spilling....and how much oil is required?? i remember something about only so many ounces!

Hold the cone like a cup, fill it 1 inch (height preferences may differ) from the top with differential fluid.
Set the cup against a work bench (don't let go!) and start sliding the pump straight down onto it.
It will be a pain, but once it gets started and has slid half the distance, you can set the pump down (it shouldn't leak) and finish sliding the cone into place by hand or by slowly tightening the 3 screws.
It's definitely worth the effort, as it assures bearing lubrication!

I wouldn't go much more than 2 1/2 ounces on your first fill, then after that no more than 2 ounces....

Can you drill and tap the cone and use an 1/8" npt plug like the early ones? This would allow for an easy fill and a pressure test...
