VTS not working with Riva ECU
Did a search and couldnt find my answer...
I have never had a problem with my VTS until I installed the Riva ECU. I had the dealer reprogram the keys and mate up the gauge cluster with the ECU.
I can see on the gauge the trim position, but when I try to adjust it, I just hear a click and no movement.
It seems pretty coincidental if the issue is unrelated to the install of the ECU but given that it is clicking I assumed it is activated and trying to work...

On the 2 stroke machines -- same module and trim motor as these 4 strokes-- clicking mean bad 7.5 amp fuse, module problems or trim motor is bad.
Plug your original ecu in and see if your trim works-- may save a trip and $$ at the dealer for something you can do yourself.

So, after all this time, I finally got off my a$$ to take a look at what was going on. I removed the vts unit and tested it on the bench. The motor was clicking but just appeared to be jammed. I wriggled the vts rod back and forth a few times, then it started working for some strange reason . I took the motor out of the housing and inspected everything. It all looked clean and corrosion free. It is working good for the time being, but is this a sign that the motor is getting a little long in the tooth?
