    FZR Intake Grate Removal

    Guys

Any ideas on how to remove a Intake grate that has been fitted with Adhesive/silicone?

There is adhesive under the front bolt locations, and up the sides towards the rear. i have cut away what I can; and although I can get a little movement, its not coming out...

    Cheers

Get under the ski and pull down on the grate. Maybe try to use a regular screwdriver to help pry it off.

    Hi Mike

I tried prying with a screw driver along the rear of the grate,, and this Is where I can get a little movement, however the alloy on the current grate will give up (Chips off) before the grate comes out.

I think some guys have to use a little heat to loosen things up.
It depends on what type of adhesive as used. This can be a PITA on the Sea-Doos because the entire metal seat starts rotating inside the hull if you're not careful. But mine have always come right off on the FZ's with no trouble.

The bolts are out - surprisingly they came out without too much issue - its just the grate that is 'stuck' in there.

i have used a ratchet strap before
and just hooked it around the grate and to the trailer , it still took a lot of pressure and some levering to get it to free up
i no longer seal the grate for that reason

I gave it a shot - pulling down on the grate, but pulled my self up to the hull.... rather than the grate coming down towards me!

Sounds like it is stuck on there good. I would not use heat, because you could easily heat up the hull around the grate by accident and that could really hurt that area. I think using a come-a-long or ratchet will be your best bet.
