Has anyone tried running a stock grate at these speeds?

Since you will be pulling the hull less in the water will it gain on smooth water?

You won't even be able to reach 85 mph with a stock grate. You'll kill yourself first or end up in the hospital.....

That's true it will buck at 80-81 mph and if you are using the Riva plate even sooner.

87+ mph in the cold air and ice water -- a little loose, but I am came from modded X4's, GSX's and GSXL's. I swear I picked up .9 mph when I switched from my riva to the stocker, but I have read multilple posts where the riva has always added speed. My ski cavitates MUCH less w/ the stock 04 RXP grate. Even IF my ski were faster w/ the Riva, I am sticking w/ the stocker-- makes the ski feel more like a seadoo

Jim you cant be serious. NOBODY can do 87 mph on a stock RXP grate. Please stop spreading mis information before someone believes this crap and hurts themself.

Feels more like a seadoo? That's just stupid!!!

Sorry for the HONEST report. Have you ever riden a 70+ mph GSXL w/ stock ride plate, stock intake grate and stock sponsons? I guess it is all that you get used to.

If you are near by and want some proof, I will take you up to 84+ as a passenger

Jim, are you "guestimating" your ski runs 87 mph with the stock grate or have you verified it with GPS?
I know from experience that there are very few RXP's running a true 87 mph, let alone with a stock intake grate.

Care to share what mods you have on your ski to achieve those speeds with a stock intake grate?
