HOW-TO: $2 filter for kanaflex intakes
i refuse to pay $50 for the POS spectre filters, and a K&N is not recommended for marine use, but i didn't want to have a open hose to suck up a stray zip-tie or piece of foam. so here is an very cheap alternative.
first get a stainless sink strainer, you can get them at any grocery store for $1-2.
poke 4 small holes in it near the outside. i just used a small screw driver.
now use a hole punch and put 4 holes in the end of the kanaflex under the metal wire.
now start to zip-tie on the strainer to the kanaflex hose. STOP after just a couple of clicks though. if you tighten them down all of the way, it will be a real PITA to get them all in.
now, tighten all of the zip-ties down.
now you have no worries about sucking up anything into your supercharger and you don't have any airflow restriction.

Interesting idea, i think i will do it although i already have a filter. However, my main conern is how to restrict the air filter from the engine bay so as not to suck hot air due to high temperature.

I saved $2, and used an old bit of fly screen
