    Should I be concerned?

2000 GP1200R (stock) - I just ripped into this ski to do a few things and when I took the carbs off, I noticed an excessive amount of oil dripping out of the intake port on number 1. Additionally, after the carb rail was sitting on the work bench for a few minutes, there was a pool of oil under that first carb. It is straight oil - no fuel. There also is some oil pooled in the hull on that side. The injection lines were definitely in place and not loose. One of the enhancements I'm doing to it is going to premix. The other two carbs didn't have this problem, nor did I notice it on another GP1200R I just replaced the motor in.

Is there a problem with that carb? Should I be concerned?

Thanks Guys! Any help is appreciated.

I'll go over the mods I'm doing and will need some carb setting/jetting advice, but I'll post that in another thread.

Not at all. Just pulled it off the water and it ran fine other than a little low end hesitation. I also wanted to mention there is no oil on the outside of the carb.

Perhaps the oil is siphoning out of the tank a little thru the pump? I wouldn't worry about it if your going premix anyway, you stated there is no gas leaking so the carb should be fine. Put rebuild kits in while you have them off. Just my .02

That's what I was hoping and there wasn't a crack in the carb or something major like that. Yep, new kits already ordered. Thanks!

Good deal, and good luck with the ski.
