you're missing the rollers on the outside of the bracket, between the bracket and the bolt head and nut. that is the better set up though. if you want, you can lower the stop so it sits under the ski's front hook point and bring the strap over the roller. either you should be fine.

I would leave the strap under the roller. Any sudden stops the ski could climb right over your roller and smack into your tow vehicle. Keep it just the way it is and keep your rear straps tight...
