There a difference between "best" and "fastest". The fastest isn't the best. The RXX was the fastest stock. It by far wasn't the best though. BRP screwed up royally when they released this ski without doing any R&D. 80% of them sank (not sank, but filled with water and hydrolocked) the first time out.

A carbed RX will spank your DI, stock for stock. And a modded one will too.
    I'm sorry to say...

either way, if you feel more comfortable taking it off, by all means. But not necessary. Premixing is great for the thought of having one less item fail on your ski. But how often do you hear an oil pump not work? If it didn't its due to poor installation or maintenance of it. I run the oil injection in my gpr and I am redoing my seadooxpl and will be going back to oil injection as well. Although without the oil tank in place, much easier to get the carbs in and out of the compartment area.
I feel the xpl is the all around best 2 stroke, but for speed, I'd have to say the GPR.

Reliable with no issues? Probably a 720 or 800.

They used Skat pumps, and had a bad run of driveshafts. Either the driveshaft broke or the carbon ring didn't seal. There was a brand new one @ Cumberland in 02. The guy put it in the water and tied it to the dock...only idling it over. 30 minutes later the brand new engine was underwater.
