    R&D Exhaust Manifold X-Tender / O2 Sensor Mount Kit or J-Pipe Mod

How many of you guys have used the X-Tender this and has it worked ok, have you had any problems with sensor overheating? and have your O2 reading been ok?

Is modding the J Pipe a better option?

I already have an X-Tender and a modded J-Pipe so cost is not a problem just looking for any pro and cons.

I've heard form a pretty reliable source that running higher RPM & boost (over 8700rpm & 15-16psi) with the X-Tender it will eventually melt away like the manifold tips do. He's had a few die on him.

Running Mini Rude now at 8500 but I am moving up to a Rude3 over winter so the boost will be going up a little. Not planning on going over 8500 as I am running the Riva ECU.

Go with the modded J-Pipe as you will need to either cut the bell on your manifold or drill it out as the O2 sensor wont be in the flow of the exhaust

I really like the R&D exhaust extender, you don't need to mod the manifold to make it work. It allows accurate readings and very easy to install. HOWEVER it will not work with most modified exhaust systems because you have to move the j-pipe/mid pipe back about 2" You would have to modify your waterbox/pipes to make it work. If you are running your exhaust out the stock location it will just bolt right in. As with a lot of mods for these skis, what works for some won't work for all........

Correct, and i dont know why BUT with the extender in place on my ski the O2 sensor was right over the top of the bell,i would have had to cut or drill out the bell for the O2 sensor to be able to pick up the exhaust gases...

Well on the T-X it is the same way right over the bell, I didn't cut or drill anything and it works just fine. Thats where the R&D extender places the o2 sensor on every single 4-tec motor, the exhaust housings are all the same. The sensor will still read the exhaust gases no problem it doesn't have to be directly in the exhaust stream. If you had to modify the exhaust housing for it to work, R&D would have told you to do so in the instructions. It may not "look" like it would be the best but it does work.
