Stock 2007 GP1300R: Water inside hull and power loss

Just had a problem with one of my GPRs. At first was a dead battery, that was easily fixed. Then took it out and noticed it had less power then usual, topping out at 64mph (speedo) usually gets up to 72-74mph (speedo). I lifted the seat and there was about 4-5" on water in the hull. It then lost power at topped out at 50mph, i rode back to shore and put back on the trailer. I ran it on the trailer but couldnt see where the water was coming from.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Run it on the hose on the trailer. See if there is a hose disconnected somewhere. With the bogging. How old is the gas? Did you refill with new gas? How old are the plugs? Change plugs as well see if that helps. good luck

at the time did you remember if the water was hot or cold.....obviously if it was hot somewhere leaking cooling/exhaust system....if cold its coming into the hull from somewhere....but might be leaking before it gets into cooling system waterjackets then water would be cool...yep run her on trailer...look closely

Just spoke with him. Gas is a month or so old. That could cause the bogging im sure its time for plugs to be changed easy. Im sure this will fix his issues. Just need to run the thing on the trailer on the hose now to see if its coming from a hose.

sounds like a loose hose or maybe a cracked pump tunnel

I might be waaaaaaaay off base here, but had a similar issue on my Kawasaki 1100 Zxi and it was a leak at the thru hull bearing housing. Water was shooting thru and filling the hull and getting sucked into the rear cylinder, causing it to bog. I looked at the plugs and noiticed water on the #3 plug. I thougth head gasket at first, then ran it in water with the seat removed and noticed the leak. I don't know if this is as likely on the Gp since the bearing is different. Good luck!!
