    hepl ASAP with 65u rebuild!!!!!!!

so i got my 98 gp1200 rebuilt and i had asked the mechanic to give me the engine so i could clear coat it before it went in. i picked up the engine and when i started clear coating it i decided to un tape a cylinder to check out the piston. i have doubts that he did as we agreed. we agreed on using brand new OEM pistons. can anyone take a look at these pics and tell me if these are brand new? cause they sure as hell don't look new to me! please reply asap! thank you in advance!

They look like old pistons that have been wire brushed ! Not new thats for sure, or they would be all shiny.

Unless his shop caught on fire and that's smoke damage on those pistons I don't believe those are brand new.

The OEM Pistons are cast and ugly. get a pic of the skirt of the piston through the exhaust port, look for lines or scratches running up and down this will indicate used.

Exhaust maifold is already on but i will take the engine to the shop in about 2 hours and make him take it off. I cant risk having him put in used pistons meanwhile im paying for new ones. Thanks for your help guys and any other input would be greatly appreciated

Had the mechanic take the engine apart in front of me and the pistons WERE indeed new -_- they just dont look nice on the top since theyre forged but the sides were new

Those are Cast OEM Pistons and be thankful for that. Forged pistons are troublesome in watercraft
