No kill switch lanyard? How does it Stop?!?!

On the 89 650 sx, is there a kill switch lanyard? I looked on the start stop housing and there doesn't appear to bea location for the kill switch. If you fall do you just have to swim and get it quick? Thanks, Charlie

Most folks with the older skis, and no lanyard, either install one, or just idle the ski down, so that when you let go of the throttle, it dies. It will circle, but it's a real pita chasing a circling ski.

That's what I figured. For a while I was without a lanyardd with my gtx so I duck taped the button down and just turned out the idle a bit so it wouldn't sustain itself. How does it circle on its own? I have always heard of that. Thanks, Charlie

Yeah, I had two of them but I let my buddy borrow my lanyard because he lost his. It took me two weeks to get it back from him and I wanted to ride so I just backed out the idle screw a little and rode like that until I got it back. Thanks Though! Charlie

Bought a 650sx brand new in 1987 for $3800, when you bailed off, the turn nozzle would go all the way to one side and the ski would make a circle back to you... kind of.

There was some swimming most of the time, but if you got your ski to idle smoothly down low it would circle back pretty well.

Although some wipe outs let the handle pole stay out when you install an aftermarket handle pole spring and then the ski dumps on its side with engine running with no water cooling it and no circle back... but the handle pole is lighter

Sold that ski 4 years ago for $750, and it still was a great running ski after 15 years and hundreds of hours.
