Decision Time: What Ski to buy?

    Hey guys,

I am currently in the market for a jet ski. I used to own a semi-modified GP1200R that did approx 70-72mph depending on the weather conditions, etc...... I since sold it and I'm ready to come back into the Jet Ski world.

I have been looking around and so far I've narrowed it down to two ski's:

    1) Yamaha FZR

    2) GP1300R

I would like a ski that gets me to at least 75mph with reliability and no issues. I know there's a difference in price b/w both of these ski's, is their anyone on here that owns both of these ski's and can tell me their pro's and cons?

You may want to consider the VXR/S as well unless you are an ocean rider but I doubt the hull is any worse than the GPR.

I would never go back to a 2 stroke. I owned a few of both.

I agree! I had a 1997 GP1200 set up for limited and it was reliable but barely broke 60 in race trim and I had a 2000 GP1200 that was Super Stock making 280hp and ran in the mid to upper 70's in race trim on race gas and triple pipes but it was a pain in the ass and it was a constant worry if it will make it to the next round in one piece. With my FZR, it makes over 350hp on pump gas and is closing in on 85mph on gps. I use it as my rec ski and ride everywhere and not once did I worry if it was going to get me back home. The power delivery, the pull the 4 strokes have, fuel economy and maintenance is way better and the 2 stroke days are a thing of the past in my opinion.

Well said, I will always be a GP fan just because I love their style but newer skis just have a lot to offer.

Do your friends a favor & get'em both.
    Riding alone is no fun.
