Post some pics and take it easy for the first 10 hours. Do an oil change at 10 hours also. Vary speeds.

Remote is behind the white front panel. It is held in place by 5 reusuable rivets... you push the center in a little and then it will pop out. Once you remove the panel, the remotes will be down on the left in a baggy.

Yes--That's the panel---- as MikeFZR says, just push in the center pin on the 5 white clips (not too far) and they loosen and you can pull them out.
When I broke in my '10 FXHOs, i put in in "learning mode" for the first couple of hours to keep the rpms down and the accellaration mild. It's very temping to let 'er rip but my owner's manual said take it easy the first 2 hours so I did. Others will tell you to ride it hard from the beginnning but i followed the owners manual and i now have 40 hours and they run great!
    Enjoy your new ski---sharp color!

Glad we could help Andy. I'm not exactly sure why yamaha puts the remotes in that location.... it's like they wanted to make them hard to access.
