    grease nipple on the drive shaft of 780 - 96

    what amount of grease and type - just reg waterproof and does it need much

    Yes waterproof is better. Grease until you see it start to come out the seal. Did you remove that seal carrier and inspect the seals in it. on a ski that old, if they have never been replaced, they very well could be worn or cracked. You need that to be reliable.

    Remove the drive shaft and then you can just loosen the hose clamps and pull it out. When reinstalling it do not tighten the hose clamps until after you install the drive shaft. That way you can insure the best alignment of the seal carrier with the drive shaft. The seals in the carrier can be replaced for about 3 bucks a piece

    Find a local bearing supply house. 8702 is the seal you need. If you can't find anything let me know. I can probably get some for you.

    Remove the jet pump and pull it out the back

    thanks for the reply i will look at it and before i pull the pump i will grease it and i suspect it leaks water if the seal is bad ?

    It could leak water yes. Or it could fail completely when you are riding and then you would have big trouble. Great piece of insurance for only 6 bucks in parts....
