    GPR hull changes

Is there any differences from 2000-2003 on the GPR hulls. In other words anything that would make one better than the other?

I don't believe any changes were made from 2000-2008... aside from paint obviously.

I've been told the '05+ are about 50lb lighter than the 1200 hulls & the '03-'04 are somewhere in between. I don't remember what year it started, but the later models also had the upgraded inserts for the shoe, plate & tabs.

As per Yamaha the 2000 GPR weighed 676 dry and the 2008 GPR weighed 655 Dry.

That wieght difference could all be in the engine changes. Loss of carbs for injectors. Electircal box is much smaller. Im sure there are other non hull changes.

So the the water surface area (bottom of hull) is identical? I have an 03' that has a beat up hull and a mint 00' that needs an engine. I want to swap everything over. I am aware of the differences for injection and swapping all that stuff should be no issue. I was just wondering if hull repair on the 03 was the better route to take.

Correct everything is interchangeable the hulls are identical. The only changes in the hull over the years were made in terms of material used.

Do you mean strongest based on hull thickness or on particular design of stressed areas?

Correct. They had thicker and heavier hulls = more material used.
