replace the 90 degree hose fitting from the bilge strainer with PN 68N-5112T-00-00 joint fitting, its a check valve instead of just a 90 degree fitting, there has been several discussions here about the same issue. i had the same problem till i replaced it, it will force water back into the hull in reverse, this part fixes it, try the search and you can find more info about it

I did this mod on my FZ for safety purposes because I was changing rideplates a lot and I always had a little water in the hull. I still get the same amount of water in the hull now with the inserts. IMO most water enters Yamaha skis through the handle bars. This is where our skis draw air in and if you ever go over a big wave or turn hard, you will notice that water floods over the bow and some goes down the handle bar opening. This water is then channeled the the bilge where you see it.

Like John said, the water comes in when you use reverse a lot. Get the valve to fix the water issue.

You may want to install an automatic electric bilge pump also.....most Yamahas come with them, the VXr/s's do not......

VXR / S does have the standard siphon pump. They do not have the "electric" siphon pump (which I think is a good idea). The FX's I know have both. JB
