    Thumb or Finger?

I see a lot of people really prefer to use a finger throttle in place of the stock thumb one. Is there any real benefit from converting it?

I had nothing but thumb throttles till I got the first X. I prefer the finger throttles. Seems like I have better control.

Yeah - that is what I was wondering. I guess there is a lot of fatigue on a long ride with the thumb?

    +100 on that.
The first ski I rode, had a thumb throttle.I got tired after 10 mins of use....

Finger for me. I got tired quickly. Even for the ATV, I switched to a twist throttle.

Just out of curiosity has a twist throttle ever been installed on a ski?

Never heard of it being done but I suppose if you have enough money anything can be done. A ski moves too unpredictably and fast for my liking as opposed to an ATV and even that, has some issues when doing it.

i believe seadoo converted to finger because when they released the rxp 215hp, they soon realised " the boat show in Atlanta i believe that people could not have a firm grip AND apply throttle...
so for safety reasons they switched to finger (what an educated seadoo tech told me, not sure how true it is)

i never had finger throttle.... i tried it but never owned a ski (yet) with one so i cant compare to anything more than a 2-3 hour ride...

while riding my thumb does get sore, but maybe after 2 1/2 hours of riding... it only gets sore while cruising at a speed while applying the same amount of throttle for long periods of time, so i vary it here and there...
im sure it would also be an issue with the finger getting sore, which is why the cruise control is while the throttle is depressed all the way up...

my atv also has a thumb throttle... dont mind it there though as its a different design... (aka just the thumb lever as oposed to seadoos/snowmobiles thumb + part of palm ones)

try screwing around for hours in the twisties while holding on with just your fingers cause your thumb is busy working the throttle, after awhile and several climbs back on the ski, you will be beat !!!!!!!!! been there, done that !!!!
